It was good to see BelleBelle and Arianna's parents running this year! Team Ingram was also well represented! Way to go, Dismuke sisters!!
This year I realized that St Jude Memphis Marathon day is my favorite day of the year. How was I not involved in this before Josiah's diagnosis?? It should be as uniting for our city as the Memphis Tigers going to the playoffs! Only Memphians understand that :). It is deeply personal to me now, of course. I am so touched by those of you who support us by training your body and sacrificing your time to fundraise for St Jude.
What always gets me is when I'm picking up cheering supplies at the 'Heroes' station. There are all these stickers, pompoms, tattoos, signs, cow bells, and more. And for some reason that is always when it hits me that there are thousands of people doing this!
Thousands of people caring for children that they don't even know--
Thousands of people motivated to help my son and others they have never met--
...and I stand there and silently sob as I pick up our cheering supplies, because God (and Stacey H. and Tracy) knows, I cheer until I lose my voice.
Aand I'm tearing up again. Well, at least I only cried once while I was cheering.
"Thank you" is what I set out to write. So, thank you!
